At the beginning of the week we had been thinking that to go with our Appreciation Party we would shed some Light on Solid as a company and write a small expose for our blog. Now it really is a shame that Tujamo had to cancel his North American tour due to illness, however, we’ve decided to go ahead with the little weekend read. Do keep in mind though that every now and then it is nice to be able to give back to the people who show us their love and support on a continual basis. We always try our best to do this through contests and giveaways, so stay tuned for more announcements and another date for our Customer Appreciation Party.
It would be an understatement to say that most people didn’t know that Solid Events is one of the oldest Event and promoting companies in Vancouver. Solid has been around since the early 2000s and with several of the other event companies in Western Canada is responsible for developing the scene and bringing it to level it is at today.
A lot of what the new generation sees when it comes to shows, clubs, music etc. is substantially different from what it once was. The large scale production and massive crowds, mainstream culture and public openness were things that were unheard of.
Long before its enormous popularity, ‘EDM’ was very much underground and for that matter was not even considered ‘EDM’ as we know it today. UK Hard-House, Hard Trance, NRG, Tech-Trance etc. were the immensely popular genres when the scene first began to sprout up and also when Solid got its start. Oddly enough these genres that are almost unheard of presently paved the way for the genres of music we so love and enjoy today. More over the shows, concerts and raves that showcased this music are responsible for the awe-inspiring audio and video production we enjoy at current shows and festival.
Over the past decade Solid Events has been responsible for aiding in the growth and development of acts such as Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, Dash Berlin, DADA LIFE, Above & Beyond in our local scene. Although it is not only the acts that have grown; Solid has grown with them.
It has always been one of Solid’s main goals to grow with the community and culture that exists around EDM. The pursuit of this goal has given people the confidence that when they hear ‘Solid Events’ they know that the show they are attending puts on display top quality production, boasts a SAFE environment and showcases top tier talent. However what many don’t associate Solid with is one particular individual or its management.
Unlike most companies in the spotlight these days whose management decides to very open with their success, Solid takes a different approach. As a company that holds events like the ones we do, you need to always take into account that your strength comes from your loving and loyal patrons. This idea has been engrained in our minds since the inception of the company, and never has it strayed from priority #1.
If you have noticed as of late we have decided to emphasize this in our branding. The hashtag #BESOLID represents our company perfectly. Solid Events is not a company run by a few but run by everyone who attends our events. Every time we see our hashtag we see that you have accepted our invitation to become apart of what Solid is and join together in a community you love. It represents the past 14 years of our company and instills humbleness in our minds knowing that management alone is not responsible for Solids growth, but we as a whole are.
This sense of unification has brought immense success to several of our events in the past, which still to this day continues to be an important part of the local scene. Solid NYE, Dooms Night, Fusion Dreams and Insomnia just to name a few, are the flagship events that have survived the test of time because of the tremendous support this wonderful city shows us.
With most of these events now going into double-digit anniversaries we are excited to say that in 2015 expect to witness these events on a scale never seen before along with an introduction to new events and brands for the younger generation.
Now that you know where we came from, it is easy to see we can’t wait for what the future holds. More importantly though, we are excited to explore it with YOU.
